BDWS: German security service providers increase turnover by 4.7% Print E-mail
Thursday, 26 May 2011 16:45

The turnover of private security services in Germany has increased by 4.7% in 2010, compared to the previous fiscal year. "The economical survey for the service sector by the Federal Statistic Office clearly confirms the market trend. With a turnover that has risen by 4.7%, the private security services sector was able to balance the losses of -3.8% in 2009", says Wolfgang Waschulewski, President of the Association of German safety companies (Bundesverband Deutscher Wach- und Sicherheitsunternehmen e. V., BDWS). Therefore, the security service providers are able to benefit from the current economic upturn.

Rather little changes can be seen in the employment trend for the sector. "In 2009, there was a slight decline in employment within the security service companies of 0.4%", as Dr. Harald Olschok, managing director of BDWS, explains. "Whereas in the first nine months of 2010 we had a growth in employment of 1.7%".

The overall turnover of the private security service providers in Germany in 2010 amounted to 4.6 Billion Euro. The 3.700 german security service providers currently employ a staff of 169.000. In the BDWS, 800 of these companies are associated. The menbers of BDWS employ a staff of 100.000, which is more than half of all employees in this sector in Germany (58%). The market share - measured in sales - of these companies is approximately around 80%, which is mainly because of the high-quality services that many of them provide. These are companies that provide security f. ex. for airports, nuclear power plants, military facilities and industrial plants, as well as cash and value services. [www.bdws.de
