ARH Inc., provider vehicle number plate recognition technologies (ALPR/ANPR) recently announced new FXCAMd camera models including megapixel and colour versions. Although ARH’s Carmen ANPR software is able to read vehicle license plate numbers from any camera image, the best OCR accuracy can be achieved with the usage of special ANPR cameras. This is why ARH traditionally offers FXCAM camera types with IR illuminator, B&W WVGA digital or PAL analogue versions. The new models include 1.3 megapixel version. Such resolution will allow to cover one or two full lanes. Usage with the Carmen ANPR software will enable reading several plate numbers from one image. An overview image of the car will be given with the new colour sensor models. The number plate colour will be also recognized if such FXCAM type is used with the Carmen ANPR software engine. All cameras are equipped with a built-in infra-red illuminator for continuous night and day operation.
