BRS Labs Wins Best Video Analytics Product at ISCWest Print E-mail
Behavioral Recognition Systems, Inc. (BRS Labs) announced that its AISight Behavioral Analytics software, the first analytics solution to use Artificial Neural Network (ANN) technology to accurately recognize and classify bjects and behavior, was awarded the Security Industry Association's (SIA) New Product Showcase (NPS) Award in Video Analytics at ISC West. AISight's adaptive-learning capabilities specifically address the challenges of complex video-surveillance environments by applying “reason-based” processing which allows for more accurate operation, quick installation and minimal maintenance.

"We are honored to receive the SIA award and believe it further validates BRS Labs as the industry’s thought leader and market innovator, and highlights our accomplishments in Behavioral Analytics," said Eric Eaton, CTO of BRS Labs. "BRS Labs' approach to video analytics represents a fundamental change in the industry away from rules-based systems to a reason-based approach to deliver greater accuracy, scalability and effectiveness." Last year BRS Labs received this award for delivering the only analytic product to address the specific issues of Pan/Tilt/Zoom (PTZ) cameras. Until then, video analytic products could only control the positioning of PTZ cameras, because the constant movement of the camera renders rules-based systems ineffective. BRS Labs' Behavioral Analytics software takes visual input from the various positions of a PTZ camera; automatically learns and stores what activities and behaviors are normal for each view; and generates real-time alerts that notify appropriate security personnel of potentially threatening behaviors, all without human involvement or training.

AISight’s latest innovation, the basis for the award this year, now lets the computer classify objects without any pre-programmed definitions or specifications with its new Micro-Classification Feature. Every object in the camera’s view is classified by the Machine Learning Engine (the brains of AISight), based on its own observations and memories it creates itself. The system decides completely on its own, how a human is classified as opposed to a car or animal or any other object. All objects in view of the camera are categorized and classified based on information unique to that camera.

In addition to observing and describing behaviors, the expanded learning engine of AISight 2.1 leverages refined micro-classification features to gather information about dominant object content. Features like a subject’s size, color, reflectivity, sheen, shape, and whether it occurs singly or as part of a group are now tracked for each object. Tracking separate objects and groups of objects in real time, the micro-classification feature enables the system to observe the scene and learn to identify not only normal and anomalous behaviors, but also to identify the types of objects that exhibit those behaviors in the scene. This provides AISight with a wider and broader understanding of scene content to yield highly effective identification, analysis and tracking of behaviors.

Recognizing the overwhelming industry interest in AISight 2.1 and the unlimited applications across critical infrastructure and security facilities worldwide, BRS Labs is attending ISC West to announce its new Value Added Reseller network to provide support, integration and installation to security end users worldwide. BRS Labs also announced the expansion of their sales and support infrastructure, launching offices in London and São Paulo, Brazil. Now celebrating its 30th anniversary, the SIA New Product Showcase recognizes outstanding innovations in the design of electronic security products, systems, and services. This year's competition included over 80 entrants. Technologies showcased through this program are used in the protection of life and property in residential, commercial, and institutional settings. The New Product Showcase is a trusted and valued resource for consultants, integrators, and security professionals (corporate or government) on the latest products and technologies available.
