A new product from Bundesdruckerei GmbH was launched at CeBIT 2010: the Visotec Expert 600 document verification device. This device can be used both by public bodies, such as border police, and by companies in the private sector to check the authenticity of ID documents quickly and reliably. False identities are no longer a problem just for border police. The private sector is also being increasingly confronted by this topic. A growing number of drivers rent cars, for instance, using false ID data and then fail to return the car. Or some buyers use false ID data to sign hire purchase agreements with electric goods stores for expensive articles without ever paying. This costs the private sector millions every year.
