Fastcom Technology - Using corridors as access gates |

|
SMACS is an electronic access control system developed by Fastcom to curtail the dangers of unauthorised entry from Tailgating and Piggybacking. The system uses Biometrics and 3D recognition to provide a flexible approach across a range of applications. SMACS has worked in conjunction with Wanzl Passenger Services to develop the e-gate control system. This approach to manage secure ‘people entry’ into a specific area utilises a new designed stand Wanzl turnstile which works in tandem with the SMACS single entry system to ensure that only one person can enter the area at any one time. The e-gate spares the need for key cards and memory codes, which could be mislaid, stolen or abused. The e-gate uses SMACS single person detection system through reading the biometrics of authorised personnel to allow access. Should the entrants biometrics not be recognised, the gates will not open and security will be automatically advised in addition to a voice warning. Philippe Niederhauser, Head of activity Secure Access Solutions at Fastcom Technologies said: “We believe that SMACS is the missing link in access control. A simple corridor can be used as a people airlock to effectively control entry into any part of a building.” The e-gate control system has been demonstrated for the first time at IFSEC2011 in May.
