OBJECTdetect will present its new solution for the theft protection of photovoltaic modules (PV-Modules) on the „Intersolar Europe 2011“ trade fair in Munich. Distingusihed from other possibilities to secure photovoltaic installations - like fences, intrusion monitoring systems or video surveillance - OBJECTdetect uses a miniaturised tracking device, to allow tracking of stolen PV-Modules on a worldwide scale. 'Live'-Tracking of stolen objects The centerpiece of the theft protection with integrated GPS-/GSM-Tracking function is OBJECTdetect's patented MDS-PVB5. This electric 'retrieval system' is attached to a PV-Module via an universal motherboard connection. Becaus of its compact housing, the device is nearly invisible if one doesn't know where to look for it. When the Module is stolen, the device sends out a silent alarm via the integrated Smart-Messaging-interface. This can be an SMS or an EMail. The OBJECTdetect-Smatrphone-App doesn't need additional software and functions independent of the location. A plus of security is also given by the web-interface 'my.objectdetect.de': In case of a robbery, security professionals and operators of solar parks can - in coordination with the police and insurance company - monitor the position of the stolen PV-Module on a map in real-time, thus simplifying the obtainment of proof. Extra level of security with 'Geo-Fencing' If solar parks are secured using technology by OBJECTdetect, other measures against intrusion and robbery do not have to be taken. Solar park operators that are using a „Geo-Fence“ - a virtual security fence by OBJECTdetect - should, in coordination with the insurance company, install an appropriate number of MDS-PV-Modules. The expenses (for an installation with approximately 25.000 photovoltaic modules) are compareable to those for the deployment of an electric fence.
