Uniphar, which wanted to improve both internal controls as well as its overall security, embarked on an upgrade from its existing analogue-based camera system to an IP-based one that would cover 52,000 square feet of office space, its fully alarmed cold rooms and its state-of-the-art stock picking and order shipping technology.
Working with Tyco Security Products and Dublin-based integrator Pioneer Security, Uniphar more than doubled the number of cameras at its facility, installing more than 250 Illustra IP mini domes, Illustra PTZ 625 domes, Illustra 610 bullets, Illustra 610 IR domes and Illustra 825 fisheye cameras. Also part of the new IP-based system was the victor video management system, which allows Uniphar to view, manage and control recorded video from VideoEdge NVRs and VideoEdge Hybrid NVRs.
"Uniphar made a major investment in new technology for distribution and logistics and wanted its IP-based CCTV system to be of the same calibre,” said Eamon Reilly, Integrated Solutions Manager for Pioneer Security. “By selecting this integrated system from Tyco Security Products, Uniphar has achieved its goal of ensuring the safety and security of its products and processes.”
“The victor platform, in conjunction with the latest in IP camera technology, provides Uniphar and its clients with a comprehensive picture of its operations by allowing them to view and manage their video easily, efficiently and effectively,” said Alan Riegler, Sales Director UK and Ireland for Tyco Security Products.
Under this new system, managers can monitor the entire ordering process through live or recorded video — from the time an order is placed by a pharmacist through automated or manual picking to final invoicing. And it provides forward compatibility, so Uniphar can add cameras, monitors and recorders as the need arises.
