InnoTrans Convention and Rail Leaders’ Summit

In addition to extensive exhibits, a wide-ranging programme of supporting events in the shape of the InnoTrans Convention awaits trade visitors at this year’s InnoTrans on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds. From 20 to 23 September international experts will be holding short and focused discussion rounds examining the latest trends and innovative industry developments. Events will kick off on the opening day with the high-level Rail Leaders‘ Summit, where transport ministers, CEOs from rail and infrastructure operators and representatives of industry and associations will take part in discussions under the heading of ’Innovation in the digital age: Rail faces the challenges of the future!’. InnoTrans Convention: a dialogue among equals For visitors and experts the InnoTrans Convention is the international meeting place for exchanging professional views among equals. The panel discussions and expert talks provide an opportunity to discuss current and future mobility trends regarding the future of rail transport, interiors, public transport, design, tunnel construction, as well as other topics. The Dialogue Forum will address the key topics. Among others the topic ’Digitalisation in Passenger and Freight Rail Traffic’ as well as ’Digital Service Technologies – from Spare Part Business to maintenance’ will be discussed. Celebrating its tenth anniversary, on Thursday, 22 September the Public Transport Forum will take a bold look into the future by examining ’Public transport in 2030’, the challenges and possible courses of action. At the Public Transport & Interiors (PTI) Forum the focus will be on customer benefits. At the International Design Forum the topic heading will be ’Experience Mobility – Focusing on the User. Innovative Concepts and Solutions for User-Centred Design in Public Transport and Interiors’. Speaking on the subject will be David Cleaves, Executive Creative Director of Frog Design, Paul Priestman, Director of PriestmanGoode, and other experts. On Thursday, 22 September, at the DB Innovation Forum, the speakers will discuss ’Open Innovation@InnoTrans – creating a better and more sustainable mobility’. At the International Tunnel Forum the topics for discussion will be ’BIM – an Added Value for Tunnelling?’ and ’Underground Stations – a special Safety and Security Risk?’. Building Information Modelling (BIM) is an electronically networked planning, construction and management tool. Rail Leaders’ Summit: transport ministers and chief executives of international transport companies On Tuesday, 20 September transport ministers and the chief executives of international transport companies will be taking part in this year’s Rail Leaders‘ Summit. The event will look at the opportunities and challenges facing the international rail industry in the digital age. Federal Minister of Transport and Digital Infrastructure Alexander Dobrindt will hold a speech opening the event. In her keynote speech EU Transport Commissioner Violeta Bulc will highlight the European outlook on this subject. Afterwards, she will also take part in a panel discussion. Among those on the podium will be Alistair Dormer, Global CEO Rail of Hitachi Rail Europe, Patrick Jeantet, Deputy Chairman of SNCF and CEO of SNCF Réseau, as well as Dr. Rüdiger Grube, Chairman of the Management Board of Deutsche Bahn AG. Deutsche Bahn is co-organising the event with the Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure and Messe Berlin. Taiwan Business Circle The International Taiwan Business Circle provides an opportunity for leading international representatives of industry, science, politics and associations to meet leading representatives of Taiwan’s rail and transport sector. Among those taking part will be Ho-Chen Tan, Taiwan’s Minister of Transport and Communications. Federal Minister of Transport and Digital Infrastructure Alexander Dobrindt has also been invited to the event, which is being organised by the German Trade Office in Taipei.
